The Institute's 6,500 sq.ft clinical laboratory at Central Florida Research Park has introduced state-of-the-art diagnostic technologies and professional specialty test selection and interpretation services to the central Florida community, replacing the current out-of-region support with faster turn-around time and a more efficient healthcare delivery. The institute also provides additional direct professional referral to individuals at leading academic institutions.

To deliver its services, the Institute and its affiliates have built a fully web enabled information system. Diagnostic test information, test ordering, result reporting, expert utilization recommendations, and consult and referral services, are directly available via the internet. Patients will be able to access information through their "personal medical record", which can also be viewed by their providers of choice.

The information system will also house a large clinical and laboratory data warehouse. The ability to mine this data, to provide sophisticated molecular diagnostic testing, and to bank patients' serum/tissue have placed the Institute in an optimal position to bi-directionally facilitate the translation of emerging biotechnology into clinical practices. The institute and its affiliates have already begun building an IT infrastructure that will facilitate clinical trial brokerage and help direct future biotechnology development efforts in the diagnostic and pharmaceutical industries.
